A rubber cylinder is strongly compressed between two rigid plates. The Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic rubber model is used.
The first plot shows the initial mesh with quadrilateral elements. Because of symmetry, only a quarter of the total rubber cylinder is modeled. The upper edge is prescribed a downward displacement. Contact conditions are prescribed to model the rigid plate.
The second plot shows a contour plot of the veritcal strain component in the deformed mesh. It can be seen that very large deformations occurred.
